Lexus Amherst NH
Amherst, a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, was first settled in 1728 when the land was granted to soldiers following Kings Philip’s War. Early occupants of the town thrived by establishing a number of local businesses and residential areas.
The population grew as people were drawn to the then-popular vacation destination of Baboosic Lake, a warm water lake that borders Amherst and Merrimack. New people migrated here, both temporarily and permanently, via the Boston & Maine Railroad Manchester & Milford branch train.
The town prides itself on its deeply rooted history, and the preservation of its natural lands, like the Ponemah Bog Wildlife Sanctuary and Hodgman State Forest. At the literal center of it all is Amherst Village Historic District, which can be found on the National Register of Historic Places. This village gives a remarkable glimpse of what life was like when it was first created centuries ago.
